Mar. 7, 1950; appl. filed Mar. 9. 1946, Serial No. 653,406: 7 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). CO and H2 are passed into contact with a sintered FE catalyst at 300°-350° C. at a pressure 10-50 atm. and a velocity 300-5,000 vol, synthesis gas per vol. catalyst per hr. The synthesis gas is CO: H2:4:3 or 2:1 or 1:1. A final synthesis gas containing CO and H2 in a ratio not greater than 1:0.65 nor less than 1:1 will produce a residue gas having a CO2 content useful for production of 2 synthesis gases. 1 by reaction of residue with CH4 and steam and the other by reaction of the residue gas with coke. The 2 synthesis gases are mixed. 1 foreign and 8 United States patents cited. |
