In the continuous distillation and gasification in a retort of fuels of different sizes, especially for obtaining a mixture of H₂ and CO for the synthesis of hydrocarbons, the distillates from a column of small-sized fuel together with steam are passed into an adjacent column of large-size fuel from which they are withdrawn. Describes apparatus.
