In this 4-stage process, the gasification of carbonaceous solids with the aid of metallic oxides leads to the independent production of CO and H₂. In the gasification stage CO is produced by fluidization at 1,300º-1,650º F. of coal and hot Fe oxide with an O₂-free gas. The reduced metal oxide is transferred to the oxidation stage where H₂ is produced by fluidization with steam. In a 2d oxidizer reduced metal oxides are heated by fluidization with air. H₂ and CO are transported to a reactor for synthesis of organic compounds.
