Olefinic hydrocarbon mixture containing at least 6 C atoms, b. 100º-130º obtained by the hydrogenation of CO, is condensed in the presence of agents such as AlCl₃ or HclO₄ with aromatic oxycompounds (phenol, o-cresol, naphthol, etc.). The condensation product is sulfonated and converted with mineral or organic bases into its water-soluble salts. The reaction products are useful as detergents or emulsifiers.
