[Catalyst for Cracking Hydrocarbons.] German Patent 716,239, Dec. 18, 1941 (Cl. 23 b-1.04). Chem. Abs., vol. 38, 1944, p. 3122. The hydrocarbons are cracked to low-boiling olefins, which are suitable for polymerizing to yield antiknock gasoline. Acid-activated bleaching earth is used as catalyst, which is saturated with a H3BO3-H3PO4 mixture or only with H3PO4 and is activated with Co salts or similar salts. During the cracking the hydrocarbons are kept at a partial pressure of 1/10-1/40 kg. per cm.2. |
