Gas containing CO and H₂ is compressed under heavy pressure, and water gas of higher pressure is introduced into the compressed gas during further compression to a still higher pressure (suitably about 140-200 atm.)., the pressure is released and liquefied organic compounds are recovered. Describes apparatus.
