In the synthesis of products such as propyl-methylketone, a mixture of olefin gas such as C2H4 and acetone, at a temperature of 250º-550º and under a pressure > 50 atm., is passed over a catalyst comprising materials such as Zn and Cr oxides and ZnCl2 which accelerate hydrogenating and dehydrogenating reactions.
