      198.            BLONDELLE, R.  (Societe des mines de Dourges).  Treating Blowoff Gas From Hydrogen Production by the Iron-Water-Vapor Reaction.  United States Patent 2,018,118, Oct. 22, 1935; appl. filed Jan. 9, 1931.  Chem. Abs., vol. 30, 1936, p. 255.

Cyclic process for obtaining a mixture of H2 with CO and a small proportion of N2 and only traces of hydrocarbons involves first causing coke oven gases to pass over Fe oxides at about 750º in H2-producing apparatus of the Fe oxides at about 750º in H2-producing apparatus of the Fe-H2O-steam type, then causing the resultant gases to pass continuously through a mass of coke externally heated to about 1,200º, and collecting the gaseous mixture passing from the mass of coke (the coke being particles small enough to offer high contact surface without causing excessive loss of pressure in the apparatus).  Describes apparatus.
