PATENTS 188. BIRCH, S. F., AND HARESHAW, J. (Anglo-Iranian Oil Co.). Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen. British Patent 618,455, June 12, 1946, Feb. 22, 1949. Chem. Abs., vol. 43, 1949, p. 5573. Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons from CO and H2 modified by adding at least 2-5 mol. % of C2H4 or C3H8 to the charge gave products with higher content of olefin and branched-chain hydrocarbons. Considerable quantities of oxygen-containing compounds were obtained. Operating temperatures were less critical, and the design of full-scale converters for the synthesis was thus simplified.
