Catalysts such as oxides for example, ZnO alone or with metals such as Zn or Cu, employed in the synthesis of MeOH, from CO and H₂ or in like reactions, are reactivated by the action of H₂ or gas mixtures rich in H₂ at temperatures higher than those used for the reaction, suitably 370°, and suitably under high pressure such as those employed in the synthesizing reaction, for example, 100 atm.
