Product mixture from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is separated into gas, hydrocarbon, and H2O phases at 175°-350° F. and a pressure sufficient to maintain liquid-phase conditions. The O-containing organic compounds are removed from the hydrocarbon phase containing organic compounds. The H2O phase is subjected to a countercurrent contact with a portion of the oxygenate-free hydrocarbon fraction at 175°-350° F., 150-300 p. s. i.
