3716. WILSON, H. Production of Formalin From Digester Gas. Surveyor, vol. 105, 1946, pp. 27-28; Chem. Abs., vol. 40, 1946, p. 5861. All S compounds are removed from the gas (70% CH4 and 30% CO2), H2O vapor is added, and the mixture is passed over granular Ni catalyst at 950°. The CO and H2 produced are converted to MeOH at 2,500 lb. pressure over a granular Zn chromite catalyst. The MeOH is dehydrogenated to give CH2O, which is dissolved in H2O. WILSON, M. W.
