        It has been found that moist CO and H₂ react to form small amounts of CH₄, the proportions at 400°, after absorption of CO and CO₂, being H₂ 99.8% and CH₄ 0.2% and at 1,300°, 98.65% and 1.35%.  The catalytic effect of various mineral constituents of the ash of gas coke on the formation of CH₄ is discussed.
