Spectrum of Fischer synthetic oil shows the presence of a considerable amount of aromatics. Oils obtained by the polymerization of olefins showed the same behavior. Oils were investigated that had been produced by the Fischer process and distilled in a cathodic vacuum. It was noted that as the distillation temperature increased and the absorption and the density likewise increased. It appears that a part of the aromatic nuclei had become concentrated in the residue. From the position of the bands it was evident that the product consisted of naphthalene or other highly condensed nuclei. VELTISTOVA, M. V. See abs. 728. |
