3499. TURKEVICH, J. Electron Microscopy of Catalysts. Jour. Chem. Phys., vol. 13, No. 6, 1945, pp. 235-239. Number of electron micrographs are presented: Pt oxide, Adams Pt catalyst, platinized asbestos, the same sintered, activated alumina, active silica gel, alumina silicate cracking catalyst, Zn oxide MeOH catalyst, and a Fischer catalyst of Ni-ThO2 supported on kieselguhr. The kieselguhr is seen to be composed of diatoms, which are particles full of holes 1,300 A diam. These openings offer a large surface for support of the Ni and ThO2. ----------.
