        In performing the same experiments as Brodie on the conversion of CO+H₂ by the electric current, it was found that the reaction goes farther than the production of CH₄ and that liquids of complex composition are obtained.  Berthelot considers that they result from the condensation of CH₂O, which is the 1^st product of the reaction between CO and H₂.
