        Further discussion of the Manchester liquid purification process, which depends on the following reactions:

        (a)  (i)  H₂S+(NH₄)₂CO₃=NH₄HCO₃+NH₄HS

              (ii)  H₂S+NH₄HCO₃=NH₄HS+H₂O+CO₂

        (b)              3 NH₄HS+Fe₂O₃=Fe₂S₃+3 NH₄OH

        (c)            2 Fe₂S₃+2 O₃=2 Fe₂O₃+6 S

The process is quite similar to the American Ferrox process and the German Gluud process.  Some approximate costs of liquid purification to 100 grains per ft.³ are given and compared with oxide boxes as follows, respectively:
