At 5,000-6,000 v. in the discharge tube previously described and with rates of gas flow to 800 l. per hr., CH4-H2O and CH4-CO2 mixtures have been almost completely decomposed to CO and O2.  Separation of C did not occur, but at intermediate voltages a large part of the CH4 formed C2H2.  Tabulated data show that by varying the proportions of the mixture used, variations over a wide limit are possible in the resulting gas.  Curves show the relationships between current density, CH4 content, and the production of CO and C2H2.
