        Fe-N system was investigated by X-ray diffraction measurements and a controlled nitrogenizing method.  The latter is an innovation and depends on the reaction between the nitrogenizing power of an NH₃-H₂ mixture and the N content of the Fe-N alloy produced.  Clarifies several controversial features of the Fe-N phase diagram.
