           Reaction between CH₄ and steam was carried out in the presence of a Ni catalyst under various conditions.  The influence of amount of steam, temperature, and pressure of the reaction mixture on the decomposition rate of CH₄ were studied.  The decomposition of CH₄ containing O₂, CO₂, or CO was carried out in the presence of oxides of metals, Ni, Co, Cu, Fe, and Cr.  The influences of amount of mixing gases, reaction temperature, and pressure on the decomposition rate of CH₄ were studied.
