Abs., vol. 22, 1928, p. 345. Attempts were made to synthesize HCHO and MeOH at atmospheric pressure. The most favorable results for HCHO were obtained when using a platinized gel as catalyst with mixtures of H2 and CO2. With H2, CO, and a Cu catalyst the result appeared to be a mixture of the products. Pressures varying 8-27 atm. gave no better results than 1 atm. for these syntheses. MORRISON, J. L. See abs. 2409.
