        HCO₂H, which, under the influence of such catalysts as Cu, Ni, and ZnO, decomposes into H₂ and CO₂, was used in the reduction of various ketones. The hydrogenation was carried out at about 300°, using Ni or Cu.  The activating effect of Cu and Ni upon the dissociation was studied.
