        Reaction is characterized by a strong adsorption of CO on the catalyst and a comparatively weak adsorption of H2 (or D).  Expressions for the velocity of reaction, is derived from experimental measurements, are:

VCH4=k(pH2)0.9/(pCO)0.2,

VCD4=k’(pD2)0.7/(pCO)0.2.

The reaction is not inhibited by the products of the reaction.  The energies of activation are:  ECH4=27,000 cal., ECD4=25,000 cal.
