        Incomplete oxidation of CH₄ with free O₂ is examined from both thermodynamical and experimental aspects.  Mixture of CO and H₂ in the ratio of 1:2 can be obtained, and can be used in the synthesis by high or low pressure processes of alcohols, hydrocarbons, and various other derivitives.
