By means of the constants of the Beattie-Bridgeman equation of state, the specific volumes and fugacities of the 2H2+CO=CH3OH system are calculated at temperatures from 250°-350° and pressures from 100-200 atm.  By a graphical method, from the Newton-Dodge equation (abs. 2457) the equilibrium concentrations of CH3OH are found to be much lower than those obtained on the basis of the ideal gas laws; the values agree well with the experimental data of Newitt, Byrne, and Strong (abs. 2448) and of Wettberg and Dodge (abs. 3583).
