Most favorable velocity for a 13-mm. bore is 4 l. per hr., corresponding to a mass velocity of 500. Wide variations in velocity do not markedly affect the most favorable reaction temperature, but marked changes occur in the composition of the benzine, the formation of CO2, CnH2n+2 and heavy hydrocarbons.
