Feasibility of various methods for the preparation of EtOH is discussed. The experiments were carried out with a gas containing CO 33.4, H2 66.2 and CO2 0.4%. After the experiments the composition of the gas was changed; it contained CO2 up to 12, CH4 11, CO about 33.4 and the amount of H2 decreased to 45-50%. The condensate contained fractions boiling 60°-70°, 76°-80° and above 80°. The highest yield, 39%, of EtOH was attained at 320°-330°, 120 atm. and in the presence of ZnO:CoO::3:1, catalysts. A series of alcohols from Me to Am were traced in addition to EtOH. The experiments are described and the effect of changes in the experimental conditions is shown on diagrams.
