Free energy and equilibrium constant of the reaction CO+2H2=CH3OH(g) are calculated at various temperatures. ΔF°298=10.950, ΔF°523=O, the working limit of the process at 100 atm. is 700° abs. The method of calculation is that of Lewis and Randall. Park’s value for the entropy of liquid CH3OH is assumed.
