1672. KARZHAVINA, N. A. [Catalytic Formation of Methane From Carbon Monoxide in Industrial Gases.] Jour. Chem. Ind. (U.S.S.R.), vol. 13, 1936, pp. 598-602; Chem. Abs., vol. 30, 1936, p. 6534.
CH4 cannot be profitably produced from ordinary blast-furnace gas, but if the gas has been produced by blowing O2 into the furnace, a gas can then be obtained containing up to 60.6% CH4, after adsorption of CO2. The best catalyst for the conversion with steam consists of 84% Ni and 16% Al2O3, at about 400°.
