MeOH, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde are produced by oxidation of natural gas components near Winnie, Tex., by the McCarthy Chemical Co. The rated maximum amount of feed gas processed by the chemical plant is 100,000,000 cu. ft. per day. O2 of 90-95% purity is provided by a large, low-temperature unit of Hydrocarbon Research process design. The operation is described by the aid of a flowsheet.
