       On the assumption that the activation energy for the adsorption process is proportional to the zero-point energy between the gas and the solid, an expression is derived for the rate of adsorption of a gas on a nonuniform surface, and it is shown that it is in qualitative agreement with earlier observations of the adsorption of H₂ on ZnO.
