        It was shown that substitution of Cr₂O₃ by CrO₃ in ZnO-Cr oxide catalysts increases catalyst efficiency by 40% in MeOH synthesis.  Catalysts 8 ZnO·3CrO₃ and 2 ZnO·CrO₃ have the same activity.  Increase of Cr to the limit of ZnO·CrO₃ lowers the efficiency by 60%.  Compression of the catalyst, after a brief working period, improves its efficiency and the mechanical strength.
