1249. GREAT BRITAIN. NORTHERN INDUSTRIAL GROUP. COAL PROCESSING INDUSTRIES PANEL (H. L. Riley, chairman). Coal-Processing Industries Report. Chemicals From Coal in the North. Chem. Age, vol. 53, 1945, pp. 565-568. Objectives to be considered are development of the tar-distillation industry and extraction of C2H4 from coke-oven gas. The statement is made that the northeast provides one of the most suitable areas in the country for large-scale trials of the Fischer-Tropsch process. The County of Durham, with its large coke-producing units and potential reservoirs of surplus gas, is eminently well place for this research work, and the products made by the Fischer-Tropsch process may be linked with those from the C2H4 extraction plan. |
