CO is passed over Fe3O4 at 275° and the C content determined periodically.  Graphic treatment of the data gives values for dissolved C which, when subtracted from the totals, give values which become constant after 20 hr.  This value corresponds to Fe2C.  Removal of C by H2 gives the same values.  The data of Fischer and Bahr (see abs. 973), similarly interpreted, give the same results.
