      Two processes, hydrogenation and the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, are outlined.  The Pintsch-Hillebrand, Wintershall-Schmafeldt, and Winkler systems for utilizing brown coal in the synthesis are described, and the compositions of the gas mixtures from the 3 are compared.
