645. CROFT, C. M. Installation of Tower Gas Purifiers. Inst. Gas Eng., Commun. and Repts., vol. 212, 1939, 18 pp.; Chem. Abs., vol. 33, 1939, p. 6563. Thyssen-Lenze tower gas purifiers, the first of their kind in England, as installed at the Wandsworth Works, are described. The installation, capacity 10,000,000 cu. ft./day, consists of 6 towers, together with a stocking tower and stocking frame. The purifiers have worked equally well from ½ capacity to 33% overload. To date, the spent oxide has contained 44% pure S. Costs are about ½ those of the original purifiers. |
