219. ---------------. [ERTHELOT, C.] [Cost of Hydrogen Necessary for Manufacture of Synthetic Gasoline.] Chim. et Ind., vol. 34, 1935, p. 815. Average cost of H2 from water gas used in the synthesis of gasoline amounts, at 30 centimes/m.3, to 600 or 1,200 francs/ton of gasoline, depending upon the process used – Bergius or Fischer-Tropsch. Thus, the cost of the necessary H2 is more than the cost of natural gasoline. By carbonizing coal at 900°-920°, 300 m.3 of a gas containing 72-74% H2 can be recovered/ton treated. The cost of a 95% H2 from this source is much less than that from water gas. Abstract of a paper presented at the XVth Congres de Chimie Industrielle. |
