                  Catalyzing effect of Ni, Co, and Fe upon the velocity of the reaction 2CO=CO₂+C is investigated.  Higher temperatures of 500°-800° were unfavorable for the decomposition of CO to C in the case of metallic Fe.  At the temperatures investigated, the oxides were as effective as the metals themselves in determining the decomposition of CO.
