Abstract

The goal of this invention is the production of highly active catalyst owing to the use of intermetallic compounds and new components. To produce intermetallic compound, zirconium tetrafluoride is alloyed with a component comprising copper or a metal from iron group or their compounds, preferably oxides or fluorides, or their mixture containing 1-99 wt.% of oxide (in metal equivalent). The obtained intermetallic compound is saturated with hydrogen at 200-300°C and exposed to thermal treatment at 300-400°C. Then the catalyst is produced by thermal reduction of the components in the presence of calcium. The catalyst’s specific surface exceeds that of the known catalyst by 40-50 times, which leads to a 1.5-4 fold acceleration of the target product formation.
