Abstract

PURPOSE: To purify a raw material gas for synthesis comprising CO as a main component, O2, etc. into properties suitable for synthesis, by bringing the gas into contact with a catalyst for removing oxygen, purifying it at two stages by application of pressure swing adsorption method.

CONSTITUTION: A raw material gas for synthesis comprising CO as a main component, and gases such as O2, etc. is brought into contact with a catalyst for removing oxygen (preferably, two-dimensional composition catalyst obtained by combining copper oxide and zinc oxide subjected to partial reduction treatment, so that O2 is converted into CO2. Then, the gas is passed under pressure through an adsorption column packed with an adsorbent (preferably active carbon having 14-30 A pore diameter of the maximum frequency, etc.) so that CO2, water, S compound, hydrocarbons, etc. are adsorbed, and removed to carry out purification.
