Abstract

PURPOSE: Crude heavy oil is catalytically hydrogenated in liquid phase and separated into the vapor of formed light and medium fractions and the liquid of catalyst-containing residual oil slurry, then the vapor phase is subjected to gas-phase catalytic hydrogenation, while the slurry is circulated to the liquid-phase hydrogenation process, thus increasing the catalyst efficiency and activity.

CONSTITUTION: A crude heavy oil containing high concentration of the catalyst suspended therein is sent from the line 34 into the tank 12 and heated with the heat exchanger 15 and the preheater 16, while an excessive amount of hydrogen is fed from the line 25 and they are continuously sent to the liqud-phase hydrogenation column 17 where a part of the crude heavy oil is catalytically hydrogenated under high temperature and pressure to form the vapor of crude light and medium fractions. The formed vapor stream and the catalyst-containing remaining slurry are overflown from the top of the column 17 to the high-temperature separation column 18 where they are separated into a gas stream and a slurry flow. The gas stream is sent to the gas-phase hydogenation column 19 where high-temperature and high-pressure catalytic hydrogenation is effected for purification, and the product is cooled with heat exchanger 15 and separated with the low-temperature separation column 21 into the light and medium fractions and hydrogen. The slurry is circulated to the tank 12.
