  The Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center (PETC) enjoys an international reputation as a result of past accomplishments and ongoing cooperative agreements with other countries. This high regard for the institution and its people prompts professionals from around the world to come to PETC for training, technical expertise, and to collaborate on research projects.  
 
PETC's Overseas Activities

  Since the early 1970s, PETC has been active in the international exchange of information with regard to coal technologies. In addition, PETC staff members traveling abroad find themselves as unofficial ambassadors of U.S. fossil energy technology.  
 
The 7th International Conference on Coal Science 17
  This conference, better known as the ICCS, has continued on a biennial basis since 1979. It is recognized as the most prestigious of all conferences dedicated solely to the timely exchange of basic scientific information on coal.  
 
What Is Coal? 22
  The most common description of coal, that of a black rock composed of amorphous carbon, formed by transformations of organic material that occur over tens to hundreds of millions of years, is misleading and fails to present a true picture of the nature and complexity of coal.  
 
NOx Reduction by SCR/SNCR 30
  Renewed focus has been placed on nitrogen oxides (NOx) reduction because NOx is likely to be targeted for further reduction by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
