ABSTRACT:

Effective hydrodynamic values for relative gas component and time lag distribution in the liquid phase are obtained for various multiphase reactor systems as function of gas- and fluid-flow parameters. Considered are air-water systems of direct- and reverse-flows, a two phase direct flow cascade, and an air-water-hollow sphere system of reverse flow.  Results indicate the multiple phase direct flow reactor as most optimal for continuous aerobic fermentation processes.
