ABSTRACT:

The seventh run of the two-stage Fischer-Tropsch pilot plant continued during this quarter, thus far accumulating 86 days on stream. Mathematical model calculations on the effects of water-gas shift activity were performed, and a new technique for analyzing heavy reactor-waxes was utilized. Experiments using hot-flow bubble-columns and also our bubble-column reactor have yielded new information on bubble size and gas holdup. We are continuing our investigations into the use of series of continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) as an alternative for bubble-column reactors. 7 refs., 24 figs., 5 tabs.(ERA citation 10:038939)
