3992.  ZERBE, c. (Rhenania-osssag Mineralöwerke A. G.). [Catalyst for Cracking Hydrocarbons.] German Patent 738,752, July 29, 1943 (Cl. 23 b-1.04). Chem. Zentralb., 1944, I, p. 841; Chem. Abs., vol. 38, 1944, p. 4789.

Residues from synthesizing hydrocarbons, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids from dehydrogenation, from addition, condensation, and polymerization reactions carried out with AlCl3 are used as catalysts for the cracking processes. These residues consist predominantly of organic compounds containing Cl, inorganic compounds containing S and Cl, oxidation products and small amounts of metal chlorides.
