3941.  WILLIAMS, R. (Du Pont Ammonia Corp.). Ammonia Synthesis. United States Patent 1,820,417, Aug. 25, 1931. Chem. Abs., vol. 25, 1931, p. 5739.

Gaseous mixture containing CO, together with H2 and N2 in NH3- forming proportions, is subjected, preliminarily and at reacting temperature, to the action of a catalyst, such as one containing Cu, Mn, and Mg capable of converting Co in the presence of H2 into oxygenated hydrocarbon derivatives; the latter are condensed and removed from the associated gases, and the gases are then subjected to the action of an NH3- forming catalyst at reacting temperature. Describes arrangement of apparatus.
