3936.  WILDE, H. D. (Standard Oil Development CO.). Continuous method of Catalytic Reactions. United States Patent 2,534,092, Dec. 12, 1950; appl. filed Aug. 21, 1948, Serial No. 45,526; 1 claim (Cl.23-1). Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p.3100.

Catalyst supported on a belt of wire gauze is moved continuously by means of suitable reels through a reaction zone where it is brought into contact with the reactants for a short time, after which it is moved out may be regenerated or renewed. This endless-belt arrangement may be used for any catalytic reaction requiring short contact times. For example, AlCl3 may be deposited on a metallic gauze belt and used to catalyze the reaction between CO and H2 at the proper temperature and pressure.
