In carrying out exothermic catalytic reaction in the gaseous or vapor stage, excess heat of reaction may be carried away by introducing a finely dispersed liquid, such as hydrocarbon oils, into the catalyst space during pressure of the gases prevailing in the reaction space should be lower than the temperature to be attained by this cooling step.
