3892.            WELTY, A. B.  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Apparatus for Conversion of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,550,741, May 1, 1951; appl. filed June 28, 1946, Serial No. 679,886, divided and this appl. filed May 19, 1948, Serial No. 27,879; 5 claims (Cl. 23-288).

In the conversion of gaseous hydrocarbons into synthesis gas by contact with a fluidized mixture of metal oxide and reformer catalyst, the reduced metal oxide is separated from the reformer catalyst by centrifugal force, reoxidized and mixed with the separated reformer catalyst, the mixture being used again for conversion.  The apparatus used comprises a conversion vessel and a reoxidizing vessel, a connecting pipe with a curved section to effect separation of the catalysts by centrifugal force, means for conducting the separated reformer catalyst back to the conversion chamber, and means for conducting the separated reduced catalyst to the reoxidizer from which it is conveyed back to the conversion chamber to be mixed with the reformer catalyst.  1 United States patent cited.
