PATENT

3889.  WEINROTTER, F. (Österreichische Stickstoffwerke A. G.). [Industrial Gas.] Austrian Patent 173,675, Jan. 10, 1953. Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 1919.

Gas consists of a mixture of H2 and CO containing optionally small amounts of CO2 or N2. It is produced by treating liquid or meltable gasoline refinery products with an excess of O2 or air preferably in the presence of steam, and mixing the obtained gas mixture without cooling with other industrial gases or with natural gas, so that the hydrocarbons contained in the latter are transformed into H2 and CO. The heat necessary for this transformation is furnished by exothermic reaction of the gasoline gasification.
